15 States and Counting
This week, something big happened in the fight for healthier food for our kids. Some states are stepping up, introducing bills that would not only remove synthetic food dyes and harmful additives from schools but also from any food establishment in the state. If passed widely, this could be a massive win for our children’s health.

Listening to the testimonies from West Virginia today had me emotional. Yes, the science is there—there’s no denying the research linking food dyes to behavioral issues, hyperactivity, and even long-term chronic health concerns. And yes, we can all look around and see how sick our kids are, facing more chronic diseases than ever before. But hearing the personal stories from parents who have lived and are living this nightmare. Parents who have seen firsthand how these additives impact not just their children but their entire families. Y’all it had me in tears. (hormones don’t help)
Why are we trying to pass these bills?
Parents should not have to police their children’s food at school where learning and growing should take place. And they certainly should not have to fight this battle in hospitals, where healing should be the focus. My heart goes out to every parent in this fight, and I pray that God continues to wake up moms, dads, and decision-makers who have the power to do better for our kids.
One testimony that hit hard was from a state representative who shared his story of fostering a child they were told was most likely on the spectrum. He and his wife had just begun to learn about dyes and processed foods and decided to remove dyes and most processed foods from there house to see if that would help him. Over a few weeks they saw the difference firsthand when removing food dyes from their diets. And he’s not alone—so many families have experienced this transformation.
Brandon and Whitney (click to check out the documentary info) brought the facts and the arguments for the oppositions, proving what’s possible and speaking from their hearts. Vani Hari (Food Babe) laid out the staggering statistics on chronic disease and food industry practices. Y’all it’s frightening when you hear it put into numbers. Lisa Ledford, a scientist, shared research-backed evidence on synthetic dyes and their harmful effects. Parents, advocates, and a representative from Eat Real Nonprofit all joined forces to make a compelling case.
Brave People Speaking Out!

And you know what? The panel listened. They voted unanimously to move the bill forward. Now on to the Senate and then the Governor’s desk.
This is a huge step in the right direction. There are 15 states that have bills out there. Arizona and Texas have passed, and Florida is in motion. If one state can do it, others can follow. This is not a political issue and please pray for all states to step up and do better. We need to keep pushing for this kind of change. Our kids deserve better!
Let’s keep this conversation going. Awareness leads to action, and action leads to change.
